>All right, I’ve settled on some rules for my first resolution in order to make sure I make it to my second. While I’d love to think that I could do a month straight of getting all of my Effective (daily) Habits done, I’m realistic enough to know that life gets in the way sometimes. Rather than punish myself or have a unachievable goal that will only plunge me straight into the the pint of Ben & Jerry’s, I’ve decided to just aim to make it to 30 days, even if they are not quite consecutive.
{All you sticklers out there are thinking I’m a slacker by not going for 31 days, but think of it this way: I could have gone with a lunar month and stopped at 28! Not that I’m going to stop with my habits at all, but… well, you know what I mean.}
Therefore, 30 days is the mark to meet in order to get started with my second resolution to start my piano lessons. One more rule, though, is that I don’t want to get to 30 days after six or seven months of on again-off again, so I decided that if I miss more than 2 days in a row, I’m going to have to start over. I’m supposed to be building habits, after all.
And so…. (drum roll please)…
Yesterday was Day 1! I got all 11 of my Habits completed!
Only 29 days to go.

P.S. For those of you who are only here because you want to know what’s going on with the munchkin, check back in the next day or two when I will have posted a whole bunch of photos and maybe written up a story or two of our Christmas holidays. I can’t write more now because he’s upstairs in his crib saying things like “Mama turn” and “Cago,” which means “It’s Mama’s turn to get me up and if she doesn’t I’m running away to Chicago to see Aunt Jen and Uncle Bill.”
>11 in one day?!! I'm impressed! To reach that, I would have to add things like "got out of bed" and "turned on a light" although I made it through the day with only one "off-list" item on my diet. That is an improvement from the last few days of 2-3 items – a HUGE improvement over "stopped counting at 20" during the holidays! Eight hours to go for today 🙂
