Our winter wonderland

What is it about us that we can avoid laundry, dishes, bills, and work like the plague, but lose ourselves for hours trying to master a new technology?

That was me this weekend, attempting to figure out how to use iMovie for the first time.  I started small, making a short 60 second video for my mom in honor of her 60th birthday, using only still shots.  A very good place to begin, let me tell you.

Then I spent an hour and a half the next day putting together this video of our week of snow, which here in the Pacific Northwest, is a once a year event, if that.

Note: I don’t know if YouTube will let you see this one, because they are mad at me for using my own music.  If enough of you tell me you can’t view it, I’ll revert back to the free Muzak they’ll let me use.  Blech.  So if that’s what you see, you just have to give me the benefit of the doubt that my original version with Let it Snow and Walkin’ in a Winter Wonderland was SO much better.  Also, you could hear what the boys are saying in the videos, like the gleeful, “My turn!  It’s my turn to go sledding with Daddy!”  Sigh.  It’s moments like that that make it worth the half hour it took to bundle them up like the Stay Puft Marshmallow Men.

I’m posting them here because I obviously spent too much time on them to get around to blogging this weekend, and I need things to do double-duty in my life, or I will never accomplish anything.  And if I don’t cross things off my list, I don’t get to have dessert at the end of the day, and I simply can’t have that.

So I hope you can enjoy the videos, while I enjoy this piece of chocolate.  Mmm.

These are neat! I wish I could figure out how to use the movie maker software out there – it would make a great prezzie for family!

Yes, exactly! I was thinking that with all the little videos I snap with my phone, I could make a DVD for presents next Christmas. See how I gave myself a whole year to figure it out? ; )

Wouldn’t let me do the second one, but got to watch the first. We have a trunki too – love those things!

Wonderful! I even saw a glimpse of the kangaroo. Glad Sebastian still likes it.

Very impressive! I could see them both! Loved them! Well worth the time! These are just great! I take video but rarely do anything with it! One of the items on my “never do”. (I actually have a list called that because they are too depressing to try to tackle on a weekly basis.) GREAT WORK!

You are an awesome daughter! I know your mother loved that. And the snow pictures are adorable. Time well spent, I say. Blogging can wait. 🙂
